UM Online Paralegal Program

The University of Miami Online Paralegal Studies Program is designed to provide the same quality educational experience and training as the renowned in-class version of the program.

The UM Online Paralegal Study Support Web Site includes:

  • Lecture Notes
The online Lecture Notes correspond with the manuals used in the program. The Lecture Notes often include Commonly Asked Questions and Answers that replicate the most frequently asked questions from the classroom environment.

  • Exercises
There are multiple forms of interactive exercises designed to help students apply the skills they are learning in class and from the manuals. There are multiple choice questions, true/false quizzes, fill-in-the-blank tests, graphics-based demonstrations, and other interactive devices.

  • Mock Exams
Students are provided with multiple mock exams. These devices are designed to help students evaluate what they are and are not understanding, thus allowing them to focus the scope of their study. In other words, these mock exams not only tell students what the right answer should be, they tell the students why!

  • Writing Labs on Demand
The writing labs are designed to provide students with instructor comments and assistance, even as they are working on their written assignments at home! Students are provided with text-based instruction, or if they prefer, audio instruction for each and every element of written assignments.

  • Research Labs on Demand
The research labs provide students with information, pictures, and links to help them make sense of research materials even before they step into a law library. As with the Writing Labs on Demand, students are provided with both text-based and audio guidance.

  • Westlaw and LexisNexis Labs
Westlaw and LexisNexis are on line legal research systems. University of Miami paralegal students are provided with individual access to both Westlaw and Lexis, an invaluable asset. Students not only receive in-class instruction on this valuable research tool, they also have access to the Westlaw and Lexis Labs, which instructs students in the methods of using those tools even as they are logged on to the site.

This program is designed to train students in the aspects of paralegalism most in demand. No program will better prepare you to enter this exciting field. But don't take our word for it.
