Admission and Registration Admission and registration are separate procedures. Please note the following descriptions: Non-degree seeking students Students not enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the University of Miami, including visiting undergraduate/graduate students from other institutions, may be enrolled through the Division of Continuing & International Education’s educationMIAMI.com. You can use this Non-Degree Undergraduate Status to: - build your grade-point average by receiving credit for a course
- gain academic experience
- take courses for personal or professional reasons
- take summer classes to transfer back to your home university
You may take undergraduate courses if you: have a degree from a four year university/college OR or are more then two years out of high school AND: - were never admitted to a degree-seeking program at UM
- have not been denied admission by UM’s Office of Undergraduate Admission to a degree seeking program in the last year
- do not have a degree-seeking application pending at UM
OR are less than two years out of high school AND: - are degree seeking at another four-year university and want to attend summer sessions only
- have a letter of good standing from your home university
OR are a qualified high school junior or senior (please call 305-284-5078 for details) and are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or valid visa holder and meet any other requirements outlined in the Policies Governing Enrollment in Continuing Studies Non-Degree Undergraduate Status
If you meet these requirements, you can enroll in undergraduate credit courses (100-500 level courses) at UM through the Division of Continuing & International Education as a non-degree seeking student. You may use the Non-Degree Graduate Status to: - explore a graduate field of study
- take graduate level pre-requisites before seeking degree-status
- get a head start on graduate study before completing a graduate application process
- take graduate courses for personal or professional reasons
- take graduate courses in the summer to transfer back to your home university
You may take graduate courses if you: If you meet these requirements, you can enroll in graduate credit courses* at UM through the Division of Continuing & International Education(500-600 level courses).
*Please note that not all departments allow enrollment in their courses for non-degree seeking graduate students.
