The University of Miami’s Intensive Language Institute’s new Basic Mandarin Chinese for Business prepares you for business and travel in China. With more than 70 percent of China’s businesses privatized, there is burgeoning interest in partnering with China in a variety of enterprises.

Please note: Students must successfully complete ILI 800 as a prerequisite for ILI 801.

Mandarin Chinese for Business Program
Students will learn basic business Mandarin Chinese necessary to communicate and comprehend at the survival level. Each course will cover important topics for business encounters! Topics will include:

  • Greetings: names & introductions
  • Making appointments
  • Telephone etiquette
  • Travel arrangements
  • Food
  • Shopping
  • Numbers & dates
