CTG Computer Lab Facilities

The Computer & Technology Group at the University of Miami's School of Continuing Studies offers computer-training classes at two unique and beautiful locations.

Allen Hall (Coral Gables)
Allen Hall is an attractive modern building, built around a palm shaded inner courtyard, on the main campus of the University of Miami. Its two dedicated computer labs are equipped with 27 Win2K/XP workstations and include full multimedia support for the instructor workstations, projection equipment, and laser printers. Most of our computer training classes are conducted at this location. Allen Hall is also the main office for the Computer & Technology Group and our staff are available to meet with you from 8:30AM till 7 p.m. from Monday till Friday. (5 p.m. on Friday.)

Room 202A contains 17 DELL Optiplex Pentium IV, 3.06 GHz computers, including the Instructor's. All machines are equipped with removable hard drives, 2 network cards, DVD/CD-RW combo drives and 18" LCD monitors. The instructor's machine also includes a sound card and external speakers.

Room 202B contains 10 DELL Optiplex Intel Core 2 Quad, 2.4 GHz computers, including the Instructor's. All machines come equipped, DVD/CD-RW combo drives and 22" widescreen LCD monitors. The instructor's machine also includes a sound card and external speakers.

CTG On-Line Classes
For many of our classes, we have created an on-line community for the students. This permits students to communicate with each other and with the instructor through class discussions on a dedicated website for the duration of the course. Instructors are also able to post extra materials on-line for students to down-load at home or work. The on-line community encourages a more collegiate and effective learning experience for the students. For more information, please ask about our 'Blackboard' on-line system.
