The Personal Financial Planning Program offered by the University of Miami is a program designed to prepare students to perform high-quality comprehensive financial planning services to individuals in the areas of investments, insurance, retirement plans, income taxes and estate taxes. The curriculum is modeled after the topic areas in which proficiency must be demonstrated in order to earn the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. Completion of this program fulfills the education requirement of the CFP Board. Students must fulfill the other requirements of the CFP Board in order to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ mark, including passing a comprehensive national examination, completing sufficient work experience and adhering to a code of ethics.

In today’s complex financial market there is a significant demand for knowledgeable financial planners who have earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. The University of Miami’s comprehensive Personal Financial Planning certificate program will prepare you to pass the rigorous CFP® exam. Note: 501, 502, 503, 504, 505 can be taken at any time. However, 506 must be taken after succesful completion of the aforementioned courses.

The University of Miami does not certify individuals to use the CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ marks. Only the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Board of Standards grants CFP® certificates and licenses to those persons who, in addition to completing an education requirement such as this CFP® Board Registered Program, have met its ethics, experiences and examination requirements.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
